RULES OF OUR LFS SERVER
General conduct
Use of bad language (in chat and on number plates), arguing, insulting, harassment and general abuse of other
players is not permitted and if seen by an admin will result in
a ban. This is a family-friendly server where good sportsmanship
is the order of the day. The server saves all replays so any misbehaviour
can be checked later and action taken where necessary.
Wrecking, bumping, aggressive, wrong-way
and revenge driving
Deliberate wrecking of cars or seeking revenge on other drivers if
seen by an admin will result in a permanent ban. Bumping (bump-drafting)
of the car ahead on straights is not permitted. The system will
prevent you from wrong-way driving. After the race please do not
deliberately crash into other cars as some people may still have
their force feedback wheels enabled and you could easily knock
someone's post-race cup of coffee over their keyboard
on the other side of the world. Funny unless it's your coffee and
keyboard. Think about the possible consequences of your actions. If
you have some aggression to get out of your system, use it to pump
in some fast laps on a clear track, but not to barge into others
who are here to have an enjoyable time racing.
Rejoining Into Traffic
Please take care when rejoining the race track. Use the mini-map
to ensure nothing is coming before attempting to recover the racing
line. When rejoining from the pits if you are not up to speed and
on the racing line, others have the right to pass you and you must
not obstruct them.
Pit stops
When a race states that a pit stop is required, this can
be taken any time from the end of the first lap, but not at the finish
of the race, or you will be disqualified. You must stop at
any pit box. You do not have to change tyres or refuel unless you
have set your car up in such a way that it needs to. Accident damage
sustained to that point will be automatically repaired but the pit
stop will therefore be longer. You can stop early to get out of traffic,
or stop later to keep
the possibility of a "free" repair stop in your pocket, the choice
is yours.

Overtaking
As shown in the diagram, if you are trying to steal the inside
line for a corner, the front of your car must be at least half
way along the side of the car you are trying to pass at the normal
turn-in point, before you should expect them
to leave you room. If you are in the "orange car" area the leading
driver can choose to "close the door" on you and you
must be prepared for that. Considerate drivers will probably opt
to leave room anyway especially if they do not know you. If you
are the leading car and someone has got more than half way alongside
you, you should opt for the wider (red) line around the corner
to avoid an accident. You mantra should be "every pass a clean
pass".
Returning a position
If you gain a position through contact which causes the other car
to lose ground, you should apologise and fall back behind
them at the earliest opportunity. Even if it means other cars pass
you as well.
Blocking and weaving
You can move across the track once per straight to defend your position
and you can also return to your original line if you wish, but
further blocking moves are not allowed until after the next corner.
Damaged car
Please drive carefully back to the pits if you can and get your car
repaired. If you can finish the race please try to do so as it
is disappointing for other drivers to finish a race where everyone
else disconnected when they crashed. Please look out for blue flags
and stay off the racing line though. If you are on your roof or
side then SHIFT-P to pit or SHIFT-S to spectate as soon as you
can, to clear the track. Mid-race car reset is not allowed.
Blue flags
Please be aware of faster cars coming through to lap you. Watch the
mini-map and stay alert. Being lapped may involve you in no more
than a gentle lift to allow a car past on a straight, or moving
well over to allow a large group of battling cars through. If you
see a huge group of cars approaching from behind to lap you,
if the timing is right, a slow pass through the pit lane
may be a sensible option for you to let them past. Do the right
thing, don't panic, but do not obstruct people who are at the front
of the race or make unpredictable movements. And don't stop on
the circuit as you will be an accident waiting to happen. You are
not expected to pass any car that is a lap or more ahead of you,
unless it is clearly in trouble or has spun or crashed.
Yellow flags
Please don't try to overtake into a yellow flag zone. Lift
off and be prepared to slow down significantly. There may be a car
across the track and other cars ahead of you will be on the brakes.
Even if others pass you,
you are always better off staying out of the accident and living
to fight on in the race.
Votes to kick / ban
After some thought,
this function has been disabled on the server. The reason being,
it is too easy to vote to kick or ban the person who crashed wildly
into you, but at that precise moment you just
don't know if they
were an innocent party in someone else's accident, without reviewing
the replay after the race. And once a vote process has started others
may join in who were not party to the incident but just want to try
and have one less competitor in the race. So it is just too easy
for an innocent person to be unjustly persecuted.
However, with Airio running
the show, spectates / kicks / bans are handled automatically instead.
Persons who cause problems with the racing, such as swearing, crashing,
speeding and so on, will quickly build up a kick score and can receive
a ban for 12 hours or more. Although this might mean racers have
to tolerate a small number of problematic drivers, they won't be
around for long.
If you encounter problems while racing, either Airio
or the server are misbehaving, or perhaps a problem driver is not
being properly spectated or kicked, use one of the links below to
get in touch. If Live Help is showing as "available" there
may be someone around who can sort things out fairly quickly. Otherwise,
send an email or leave a message. You can also use these links if
you have questions about the racing or suggestions for other race
track / car combinations (but not drift, drag or cruise, sorry).
