DIGITAL RACING CLUB

This is a venture formed by local SSD enthusiast members in the Bristol, North and Mid-Somerset area of the UK. If you enjoy digital racing and would be interested in joining us, here are the details.

This is a club where people bring along their own cars to race at club meetings. Meetings are held once a month for about 3 hours, on a weekday evening, at our members' circuits in the North and mid Somerset area. We use all the key features of SSD, with computerised timing, including fuel stops in pit bays for some classes.

If you live in the vicinity, to become a member firstly you must possess an SSD digital car of each of the following types, unmodified from its original "out of the box" configuration, although it is allowed to put a chip in a car that was previously analogue. All the cars we race are available from current and recent Scalextric ranges.

A Formula 1 or other single seater such as A1GP
Any type of Mini
A Sports car, such as a Dodge Viper, Aston Martin DBR9, etc.
Any low-detail saloon car with blacked-out windows, such as an Audi TT, Porsche Boxster, or Lamborghini Gallardo, etc.

If you have a spare for each class of car that might be useful in case you need a backup. They can be cars that are factory-chipped, digital plug cars, or cars you have chipped yourself. Warning: your cars may get broken in combat (especially the single seater) so don't bring along anything that is your pride and joy! Particularly with the F1 class, you may want to consider chipping something like an old "David" or "Kimi" McLaren from the pages of Ebay.

To join, firstly please introduce yourself via the contact link below. We're a friendly bunch and don't take things overly seriously! Also, if you have an SSD digital track, with the requisite pit lane facility and computerised timing that we use, if you wish, (and you have the space), in due course we can add your track to the tour of championship tracks we visit.

If you don't have a Scalextric Digital layout or cars, not to worry, you can still race against us. Some club members are starting to venture on to Live for Speed so we can meet up with you there.

Separately from the racing club, if you are looking to set up your own Scalextric Digital circuit, you can also visit our track for a track test - click here for more details.
